The Full Story
Later, a checking account was opened, a PA system was donated, also a keyboard, drum-set and some microphones were purchased. At this time, the officials were chosen. Reverend Marion Davis was chosen as Pastor; Reverend Hazel Blount was chosen as Assistant Pastor; the Reverends Mario and Nick Davis, Lyndora Perry and Nancy Franklin were Associate Ministers. Reverend Franklin was the Church Secretary and Treasurer, Reverend Mario Davis was the Minister of Music, and Sister Kimberly Perry was our drummer.
Our inaugural service was held in the chapel of the Hanes Funeral Home, Durham, NC. Hanes Funeral Home is owned and operated by Bishop Franklin O. Hanes, a longtime family friend. There were well over one hundred guests, family members, and well-wishers in attendance. The message preached by our Pastor was “God Won’t Lead Where His Grace Won’t Provide.”
Since that time, we have found that message to be true. There has not been a time that whatever God ordered, He didn’t pay for. As the ministry began to grow by leaps and bounds, the need for another suitable location became necessary. We remained at Hanes Funeral Home for 6 and ½ years and remain grateful to Bishop Hanes for opening his doors for us to fulfill the mission God had given us. After much prayer and fasting and seeking God for His direction, on January 31, 2005, the lease to our current location, 124 East Edgewood Drive was signed. Our first service at this location was on Sunday, March 6, 2005. During this time, then, Elder Mario Davis was appointed as Co-Pastor.
On March 26, 2006, our Establishmentarian (then Pastor) was consecrated to the sacred office of Bishop, and On August 2, 2007, during the dedication and terminus of the Cathedra that was secured in her honor, she was officially enthroned as the Primate and Apostle of Victory In Christ Ministries, Incorporated. It was at this time that the name of our church beared the name ‘Cathedral,’ making the name Victory In Christ Cathedral. In 2009, the Lord allowed us to be the covering for two churches, and the name of our organization was changed to Victory Christian Fellowship of Churches, Incorporated, with Victory In Christ Cathedral as the headquarter church.
In 2010, the mantle of the pastoral office was passed to our Co-Pastor, now Bishop Mario Davis and he was officially installed as Senior Pastor on September 16, 2011, during the Seventh Annual Convocation of Victory Christian Fellowship of Churches. On January 31, 2012, we liquidated the mortgage for our church. To God Be All Glory.
Upon the command of the Lord, on November 11, 2012, Elder (now Bishop) Christopher Weaver was appointed as Co-Pastor and has served faithfully and untiringly in this capacity. His love for the ministry, Bishop, and Apostle is unmatched, as he commuted from Atlanta while in school to be a Funeral Director and currently manages a demanding schedule as a student and Funeral Director at two funeral homes.
Since that time, the ministry has continued to grow in grace, and many lives have been changed. In 2013, the Lord changed our name to Victory C
athedral Worship Center: The Love Center. We are extremely grateful to God for His unconditional and unfailing love, and for bringing us into TOTAL VICTORY!
